Eastern Bridal Rites

Eastern marriage rites are full of rich culture and traditions. From elaborate food to beautiful hand- drawn henna designs on the bride’s hands and feet, to the royal lighting of a sacred fire and tying of the couple up with silk ribbons, each detail is considered to be metaphorical and essential for the marriage.

Some people demand a fortune teller or a Chinese friar to help them decide an auspicious deadline for their ceremony. They moreover seek out the instruction of their elders and ask them to confer their gifts on the union.

Customers often offer presents to the bride and groom at the ceremony. The couple’s family typically offers a perfumed handkerchief to the wife, and the bride’s parents give the partners decorated stems of Sakaki ( a sacred trees used in adoration of angels). There is no best man or giving aside of the wedding in a Shinto wedding festival and a few phrases are spoken by the priest before the meeting concludes with the partners offering the stems of Sakaki along.

In Indian bridal festivities, the wedding wears a saree which is a longer piece of fabric draped around the figure and embellished with elaborate needlework. The wedding wears a kurta which is a much layer- like garment malaysian women. At the service, guests pour holy waters from their conch shells over the woman’s joined hands to thank them and provide their best wishes. During the welcome, there are usually bear dancers which are believed to ward off evil spirits.
